A common issue among aquariasts is that their tank has a lower than desired pH. Many tanks commonly dip to a pH of 7.8 or even lower at night. Although, to the best of our knowledge, this isn't low enough to harm the inhabitants of your aquarium, it does slow down the growth of your corals.

There are several ways of combating the problem. Many people grow macro algae in a refugium on an opposite light cycle from their main tank. The macro algae uses the CO2 during the light periods to create energy (remember photosynthesis?). Others dose with kalkwasser, which both adds calcium and alkalinity to the system and raises its pH. I was doing both of these things but was still having issues with low pH.

That's when I read about the use of a CO2 scrubber. What's a CO2 scrubber? Very simply, it's a container that holds soda lime. When you run air through the container, the soda lime binds with the CO2.

I have a CO2 scrubber on my skimmer and it goes from pH of 7.8-7.9 to 8.15-8.2+

Do not really know the running cost yet as I just start on 14th Aug 2017

Also it depend on the amount of carbon dioxide to be remove at area of installation.

So every tank running cost can varies a lot

Maybe is better to use a 2 way spilter to draw air both from the surrounding as well as from the soda lime , as it may affect the amount of air drawn into the skimmer.

9 months 10 days no water change.
No serious issue experience .

How's the soda lime system working? I simply put an air pump on timer to blow off excess CO2 in the sump at night.

The soda lime system prevents excess CO2 from getting INTO the tank but does not remove CO2 that has already built up in the water.

You should give it a try. I find it work better then air pump.

Time fly fast. Soon 2017 is coming to an end.
Time to look back what had happen and changes I had made to my reef tank
for the year 2017.

Apr/May 2016 Detect High PO4 issue. (Above 0.15)
Try changing GFO ,rowa and phos minus but issue keep coming back.

1st Dec 2016 start No water change(Age is the main deciding factor)
Started reading a lot of forum on No water change. Triton,DSR,Farmer TY, Sanababit,etc

18th Dec 2016 Remove all GFO ,Biopellet and AIO.(Not resolving my High PO4 issue) 
Start using ATS, change to wet skimming, dose iron supplement and Carbon .

1st Feb 2017 Remove ATS . NO3 always zero. ATS cannot sustain
Left with Skimmer, Iron supplement and Carbon dosing

10th Apr 2017 
1. Start using DSR iron supplement. Before that was using Seachem, Continuum and Brightwell iron supplement.

2. Vodka use up. Start using vinegar/sugar mix as carbon dosing
Start with 2.5 ml dosing but need to reduce to 1.5 ml after 1 week
Now stop as NO3 is zero most of the time.
Instead I start dosing KNO3 since 1st Sept 2017

3. Add Power filter

21st Jul 2017 Add 100 macro to my lens collection.

Aug 2017 Start to look in PH issue between day and nite.

1. Start source for soda lime 

2. Set up CO2 scrubber with soda lime on 14th Aug 2017

1st Sept 2017 

1. Stop dosing vinegar because NO3 always zero. 

2. Start dosing KNO3 to boost up NO3

Now looking into auto dosing of iron supplement and vinegar/sugar mix or KNO3
