Red Sea Salt

I just mixed a new tank of Red Sea salt n it looks a tinge of chalky green .

Is this normal?

Anyone tried Red Sea salt? Is it ok?

Bro, your tank just supported by the wood n Styrofoam at the edge? Once the live rocks in, the uneven weight distribution might crack your tank base.

Iv Had this Problem for a long time..

Like Yellow foamy right..i used it before with no probs..

but do check the batch might be contaminated..i changed mind at the LFS..

Hi bro tks so much for your replies.

I'm basically using it to hold water. I'll keep in mind not to put too much life rocks. The wood lifts the tank from the floor , so helps in circulation cus it's on the setting sun side - hot hot. Hope tank doesn't crack hehe no joke.

If you need to lift your tank with wooden strip I propose you have the wooden strip at every 1 ft distance for more even load distribution if your tank is more then 1 ft.

I do not understand why your water turn bad. I every week also mix salt water and is contain in the pail for a week without issue

Sherman tks for the tip. Right now it's 1.75 ft apart , 4 ft tank with 3 wooden bar at bottom. Maybe I should have done it breadth-wise (ie front n back with wooden bar ) instead of width-wise . Hmmm thinking if draining out the water makes me tired

So Bad?..I Suggest you go Check With you Supplier on this matter..Maybe change it for you..Maybe this batch is contaminated!

They Are Hundreds And Hundreds Of Bucket's of salt..You never know which is Gone bad..Maybe Yours is a new batch also a possiblity.. but his old or Contaminated. Maybe?...Iv Been using redsea since i started with good results but once in a while run into this problem and i change the salt with another bucket.

Red sea salt instruction say to be used not more than 4hr after mixed..I m using red sea salt too..the water is clear..I usually use the mixed water after 30-45min..cheers

Bro Most salts When mixed into proportions can be used week's after with no problem..But of course it must be circulated and well sealed to avoid contamination..2weeks i kept some water ..no prob..

I was considering changing to Red sea from D-D to save cost. I think I change my mind now.

im not using red sea specifically but im using the red sea coral pro salt. i never encountered this type of problem before. usually my water will clear up within an hour. maybe u got the contaminated batch of salt.

Noted bro..the instruction on the pail say so, not I say 1..haha..anyway, after mixing the water n dun use it n keep running a wavemaker or something to aerate it won't it b a bit too wasteful in $?..haha..

I've put a pump in 5hrs liao, let's see tmr morning how it looks.

This is really irritating / frus dead. Never had this type of experience in 5yrs reefing.

I mixes my rscp overnight before. Also still crystal clear. And have kept stagnant newly mix water in sealed contsiner for a week. Still fresh and parameters same other than kh which dropped
