Tunze Wavebox

Recommended Posts

I recall this piece of equipment and I was very impressed with it. I am thinking of using this in my setup.

Are any reefers using it here? I do know that this may cause issue with the overflow, and also requirement for thicker glass as the pressure is now higher.

I read that there is a nano version, but there is not much details in the website. Are there similar products from other brands?

My Wish List

- Black Ocellaris

- Royal Grammar

- Orchid Dottyback

- Rose Anemone

- Zoos (all kinds!)

- Purple People Eater

care to provide more details why you chose the vortech over the wave box?

I am thinking of using the nano wave box for a nano. Anyone know what is the smallest tank size I can go?

Previously during my time, only the wavebox was available and it was only suited for bigger tanks.

Erm..Cause The wavebox Uses alot of space..Whereas the vortech wetside is small..so tanks looks neat..Erm..Hmm since for a Nano why not go for WP25 Or 10?..Wavebox nano also will take alot of space..And since a nano is small..will take alot of space..

other wise the Left right movement will be nice!..But other wavemakers nowdays can achieve a standing wave aswell..:)

cheers!

Vortech's heating element is outside the tank.. to me this is a big plus point..

the wet assembly takes up little space inside the tank, yet it is powerful and reliable..

If you are going for small tank the Vortech MP10 is sufficient.

lol I am old school. I do want to create a standing wave in my tank.

The resources I read online seems that only the MP40 and above can do that?

Actually my main concern is the tank size. I want to create a small tank and is worried that the volume is too small to create the wave.

Wp40 also can.

Saw alotalot mp40 users complaining about the noise level.

Do some google to make your decision haha. :D

What tank size you planning to start??

theres more better review of wp40 than mp40 now

oh I think I made a mistake, it should be wp40. My situation is complicated. I just bought a HDB last night and is planning to setup a 6 footer (if it is allowed in HDB, I understand only a 4ft is allowed). I am eager to start a nano first.

As to the size I have not decided, but I don't want it to be too big. However, I do want to setup a customized nano setup with sump, PS, CR, refugium, chiller, etc. When my main tank is up, I intend to use the nano setup as a quartine setup.

I am thinking of not going over 2ft

Hi bro, for a 2ft tank, don't bother about the wavebox. Get either one vortech mp10. Or u can g0 for 2 wp 10 or 1 wp25. For my 2ft tank, i use a single wp25, set at 75% speed and getting very good flow, water close to spilling over tank rim. I did some research back than on the tunze nano wavebox. Its oversized, and much more costly. Not worth imo. Check out some videos on jebao and vortech, u be surprised how much technology has come about in terms of wavemakers. Look also into the twin linkage controller from jebao on fishstreet.com . More options to play around.

thanks for the info, I will certainly look into vortech. I feel like a person using this in 2014 in the reefing world.

well I was still looking at schuran jetskim and only realized that now venturi are no longer popular. Needle wheel was good during my time, but they mostly fetch a premium and cheaper ones aren't that good.

Which skimmer are you using? I at least found a local dealer for schuran. I do like the pico ca reactor.

I am using life reef HSV3, its a in sump or hang on back skimmer. I run it with ehiem 1264 on the mazzei 1" venturi. I tested with ehiem 1260, it is equally good. Average dark tea skimmate 1L per day for my 300L dt.

I read it's recommended to use wavebox in tank with centre back overflow due to standing wave generated. Anybody has experience on using wavebox with corner/side overflow?

Risk of overflow? Noise? Etc.

thanks
