Went to ML today. I am so pleasantly surprised that Henry still recognizes me after so many years. Anyway, still getting the best service from him.

Yeah Henry has a scary photographic memory

I also thought he would not recognize me after 7 years .. who knows the moment I step into his shop he called my name :P

Nah. I am still noob. I am photo journaling the progress though. It's so convenient now with camera phones. Plus I really like the wireless control of the lights. I place a ip camera facing my tank and can remote view it. Btw, I am looking for a chiller for the setup. I realized the temp is pretty high even though I only have little heat source.

I also restarted this hobby early last yr after 5 yrs break. Started without chiller, thinking less pump and LED lighting will keep the tank cool. Temp was hovering around 29 deg by blowing a fan across water surface 24/7. But the topping up is a nightmare. Every 2 days my 18 litres container dry up. Chiller is still the best thing. Ha ha

realized that the coral are more expensive now. Better to invest in more gear.

Coral is much more expensive now. But some expensive stuff in the past has lower in price. But nothing beat the price of SPS back in 1990s. A huge purple colony cost $20 while those greenish SPS is less than $10. LR was only $3/kg.

I have seen some of the reefers and their setup. I realized a couple of changes. The reefers I met are a lot younger. Some I was very surprised at their age. For me, I only started at about late twenties.

Plus tank setup are shallower now. During my time, it was "fashionable" for deep tanks. Partly due to dsb or plenum.

Still so obsessed with the reef tank. My housemate was teasing me: if only I can hug the tank when I sleep.

It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves - in finding themselves.
