Upgrade New Tank water cycle HELP

Currently I've jus upgrade from 2ft to 4ft Marine.... The question is;

I bought 4ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft tank, bought new 0 grade sand, mixed salt water, cycle with new 5kg of LR wif my existing LRs for the past 2 week already... Parameters were taken on 7th Day of cycle, All safe... 14th day of cycle, All Safe...

The question is there was no Ammonia Spike at all ! ( base on my stick-on ammonia detecter.

1. Can any expert tell me is it my cycle had been complete?

2. or it had not even started yet??

3. Heard that cycle wif existing LR would shorten the process, but seem a bit too fast... scared leh......

Thanks

perhaps you wanna add a dead prawn and wait for another week.. I bet your cycle haven't even started...

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

if u have used the live sand and the tank water from your 2ft, the tank is quick to jump start new cycling for your 4ft. I suppose this has to depend on the proportion of the volumes of your two tank too. For example, if your 2ft tank measures 2x2x2 and your new tank 4x1.5x1.5 then the cycling process should be very fast unless there is plenty of die-offs from the new 5kg of liverocks you have recently purchased...

ya, perhaps u would like to throw in a small piece of prawn to start another cycle to "safeguard" and produce more beneficial bacterias in your tank. :) no harm done wat.

...what are u missing from your life?... dun wait till your last breathe before telling them that you care

When I was cycling my 4ft, I had 100kg of LR and "livesand" from someone. There is enuff livesand to have a 0.75" thick layer to cover the whole tank.

There's no ammonia spike after I intro a little piece of market prawn, I eneded up added many pcs more and the water turn smelly the next day. I immediately removed the prawns and ammonia dropped to zero within the next 5 days, so you might like to play safe to intro a small spike.

I'm now cycling my 5 feet.

used ard 20kg of old LR which I bought 1 mth earlier for my 5 feet.

intro 1 piece of prawn. No ammonia but NO2 is high....dropped, and add 20kg of new LR, NO2 shooted again. now dropping. cycling for 2 weeks closing to 3 weeks.

I guess, for my case is ok. You might wanna add the prawn, it's the best way to cycle.

Do take care of the ph.. I tested on the 2nd week, my ph very very low..

Tank: 5 X 2 X 2.5

Sump : 3 X 1.5 X 1.8

I am currently cycling my 5 ft with approximately 140 - 150 kg of uncured LR.

For the first 1 to 2 days, ammonia was at its max. After 1 week, ammonia is 0 but NO2 and NO3 is at its max. I think it will be safer for you to check NO2 and NO3 since these are the main killer.

PS: I did not add any prawn or whatever (I was told not to) because there is sufficient die off from the LR to kick off the cycle.
