tofubox
Yup, i recommend madpetz RODI. I believe its a home brand. So you are not paying for extra cost for things like shipping etc. Good build and quality. Pop by their shop and u get a good idea. Wolfyie
What are ur tots on the one from freshnmarine? tofubox
Freshnmarine crystal pro is a DI unit, not a RODI. If looking for just DI, the crystal pro is a good option too. I am using the crystal pro 3stage DI, but with ZeRo resins + carbon. Works very well for me, my TDS reading has been 002 for quite a long time now. Reason for change is the availability and cost of the resins Quote I Love Stagsss

magical26
I was just wondering what the difference is if ALL units can produce TDS 0 water?? Some have 3 stage, some ro/di have 4 stage, 5 stage, but end result is still TDS 0 right?
SRC Member domvonn Posted March 24, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted March 24, 2014 More stages likely will make the resins last longer IIRC.
BC82
is it really necessary to get RO?
tofubox
Not absolutely necessary bro. i run just DI. The benefits of running RO is just the RO picks up almost all the hard metals leaving a very low TDS water to flow into the subsequent DI units. This reduces the need to change the resins in the DI, and hence it will last longer than just pure DI unit. Quote I Love Stagsss

Hi Bro, just wondering how often are the resins replaced? I understand that different living areas have different TDS readings and will affect the lifespan of the resins. But on average (roughly), if you change water once a week (say abt 50 liters each time), roughly how long will the resins last? I'm trying to estimate cost... Any estimated gauge from people with RO/DI units will be greatly appreciated.
SRC Member Evolutionz Posted March 24, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted March 24, 2014 I do 15l of wc per week and my tds is about 70. blusafe
For reef tank, clean water is a MUST. Do not be fooled... Recommend for FOWLR. With RO(DI), more stages and added DI, assuming all produce good water, means less wear and tear on your media and elements. More up-front money spent, less long-term maintenance.
