There is a xenia filtration system for neutrient export, uncommon. Not much report. Probably you would like to monitor and share with us. Beware that they can overtake all available space with the weed like speed.

Nice. Pumping xenia is one of the 2 coral I have never been able to maintain properly previously. I am keen to try again, but not until I figure out what I am not doing correct.

its a anoying coral..grows rapidly chocking SPS And zoas

and yes Xenia can absorb nutrients..pulsing refugium

Just a heads up, iwarna had some xenia 2 days ago. Not sure if it's the pulsing type though but it formed in ball shapes

The pulsing is for helping with its photosynthesis. I think it was recently solved mystery on why it is pumping. The movement helps in the molecules exchange during photosynthesis.
