Return Pump Suggestions

Hi Guy's,

First time posting here.

Am in the midst of setting up a new reef tank.

Tank dimension 33 x 18 x 20 inches

Sump dimension 29.5 x 14.5 x 15 inches

Overflow bulkhead 1 inch / 25mm

I currently have a TOM 800 return pump (800 Gph / 3028 Lph), but the pump is quite old and has a slight knocking sound, maybe impeller starting to have problem.

Since my overflow is 1 inch, my max flow should be about 600 Gph / 2271 Lph.

Could anyone suggest me a good reliable and quiet return pump.

Some suggestion's given to me so far is Jebao JM3000 / JM4000 or RIO 14HF.

Eheim 1260 is out of my budget, but if no other better choice, i may bite the bullet and go for it. But this would be the absolute last last last option.

If its to out of budget than Get second hand eheim if u can.its a very reliable pump.

As much as possible, i would like to steer clear of secondhand stuff's, especially pumps and the likes.

you can consider Fluval pump or reef octopus water buster which is quite reliable as well.

Hi Log Fish..Your In My FB List #Ashwin!..Hmm Return pumps go for reliable ones..Ehiem,Abyzz,Aquabee Are some good brands..goood is always exp..More and more reefers are using DC Pumps nowdays..Jeabao brand..is coming up very well..I Use 2xIwaki's..But dont recomend as not user friendly..go for ehiem,Reefoctopus reef blaster or jeabao.. .

Jebao if on tight buget, not much review at the moment, but has nice controllable feature, their wavemakers seem reliable enough. Else go for eheim if you can. A reliable return pump is definitely an important equipment.

I will go for a secondhand ehiem over any brand new Taiwan or China pump if I were you. A failure on return pump can ruin all the effort put in.
