HingeBack Shrimp (aka Candy Shrimp)

Hi All ,

Bought 4 of them as above but found they have been harrasing my 2 open brain and 1 orange colored plate. The plate seemed damaged a bit at the side but seems to be doing fine now that it's far out of reach of these carnivore shrimps  It's impossible to catch them as they quickly run and hide underneath the LR structure. I feed my cleaner shrimps now as I found it one day trying to attack my other pink plate.... :(

fancy name you give them.. Most people here call them camel shrimps.. and they are NOT reef safe.

Funny thing is I read that they peck on mushrooms and stuff but never did I see mine do that to my collection of mushrooms and yumas.. ... maybe I'm just lucky..

yes,.. they are almost impossible to catch. Thats why if that shrimp of mine doesn't do any harm, I'll just leave in it there..

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

yes , they're actually belong to a genus of HingeBack Shrimps because of their curved backs. Some LFS call them "Candy".... Camel is another name they use too... :D

They've not disturbed my mushrooms in anyway but found my brain and plate more delectable to their taste. I bought 4 but 1 is missing so thats good and theres no way to catch these 3 before they discover the brain and the plate on the other side of the tank.... :erm:

Maybe a small birdmouth wrasse will harass them instead or a trigger but then again these fishes are not reef safe too.... :(

Should have read the thread before buying them.....help! :cry2:

My LR's are scaped just perfect with nice caves and I certainly don't want to move anything now. :(
