SRC Member james72 Posted April 5, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 5, 2014 In theory, the last compartment should be top down so that air bubbles wont be carry over to main tank. SRC Member james72 Posted April 5, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 5, 2014 In that case, stick to current setup but put sand in containers first. Wolfyie
Yeah ouhk. Well the bad thing was that my nitrate hit 100ppm two days back. I did a 30% water change. Last worst part, I was short of salt water. Had to use tap water to too up the tank Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves - in finding themselves. SRC Member james72 Posted April 5, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 5, 2014 You can engage iwarna services to do a full water change with nsw. Stop adding live stocks and let the tank go through a fully cycle. Marine tank takes time to reach maturity stage, normally about 1 year. You don't need any fancy stuff, just 10% weekly water change and a very slow stock up of corals and fishes. The idea is to give time for the "good bacteria" to grow to take care of the waste created from the live stocks. Wolfyie
Came back today and sun coral opened up so big. Zoas are opened and doing well too Sea fan big and wide too. Need to get a few items to clean up the tank. Lots of marking on the glass and can't be cleaned with a cloth. Cheato getting smaller. Need to get a better light. Caroline algae seems to be growing. Tested my nitrates and it has dropped. Between 25-50 now. Not the best but better than last week. Got to do a water change this week. Thank goodness nothing died. RTBA has shrunk in its hole. Instead of the big tentacles. It's tiny. Raised the water temperature to 26. Hopefully it's ok. SRC Member Zac Posted April 15, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 15, 2014 Love your eel! how it doing in a reef tank? Any cons? Example does it feed on small fishes or shrimp?does it knock down corals? Quote Zac's Red Sea Reefer
Wolfyie
Thanks Zac. Snowy is a lazy fat bugger! Lol. It's made 2 homes! Doesn't knock anything down cause I think my base rocks too heavy and so far never attack any other fish. I've been feeding it market prawn. And my brother treat it to scallop once when we didn't have prawns. Now I'm starving it for a week or less cause it's refused to come out of it hole and my dad comments that it's not so active. I'm gonna add a few prawn to see if it attacks. Had a camelback prawn inside once but it didn't ate it. Camelback died due to some tank problems. Bought the smallest one that we could find from ah beng so I think it's pretty ok. Wolfyie
Okay. Did a 30% water change yesterday. Cleaned the gravel. And moved some things around. Changed the lightings. And can start to see the corals changing color. They were turning brown esp the torch and elegance. Gonna monitor and see how things go. Couldn't resist the other day and got another puffer. But this baby is too small. Got sucked into the wm twice already and have to put it in a qt box. Hope it survives. Nitrate still heaven high. Gonna cut down on the feeding. Eel was greedy as hell. Ate 4 prawns before water change yesterday. I'm thinking of changing to sand. Cause the eel keep barrowing and the dirt comes up from the gravel. Or should I do bare bottom??
