Suddenly having these layer of brown stuff appearing on the LR. Can anyone ID what are they? I can blast them off with a turkey blaster. It is least before the lights come on. My tank is about 7 ~ 8 months old.

What is it and what should I do?

Last time I measured the nutrient level were health but nuisance algae (eg bubble, cyano...etc) still exist. I guess the algae is helping to keep the parameter in check. Ha ha...

I did changed a new batch of rowaphos. Recently, changed salt mix from Red Sea coral pro to DD H2Ocean Pro. Also changed to new DI resin from madpetz (TDS:0). Removed all my cheato from sump as they are not doing well(color fade). Top layer of DSB hardened(like rock). Added (NP) bio pellet reactor. Shorten 2 hours of the MH. Reduced feeding from twice to once a day. Dosing NoPox.

The cyano seems to reduce but could not totally get rid.

What else can I do? Should I get some macro algae?
