tofubox
By the way guys, a good tip for all. If you are using a refractometer, don't forget to calibrate it now and than. I only recently calibrated mine after 3 yrs of usage. It was reading 0.002 lower than the corrected amount. Quote I Love Stagsss

tofubox
Just did some frag shopping over the weekend at some reefers place. Thanks all for the new frags. Congested now, shall stop spending and monitor growth Some FTS and updates: Water Parameters SG: 1.025 CA 420 KH 9.0 MG: 1400 NO3: 0.05 Po4: 0.00 Had a alk swing recently, when i found my dosing tube detached from my dosing unit. True Fiber had an alk burn recently when the alk swing to 5.0, now recovering, hopefully can come back to life. Other corals doing well and colouring up Lost half of my walt smith pocci, other half still has the pink look and good PE, not sure how to save it, So tough to frag when all branches are so tight together. Got about to sticking my zoas on the frag. Fruitloop is weird, it opens once in a while, but closes most of the time. Has new polyp growing, no idea what it is trying to do. tofubox
Finally found the perfect sized turkey baster! And only 6 bucks! Made for aquarium use by GEX Quote I Love Stagsss
SRC Member starfish123 Posted April 14, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 14, 2014 is turkey baster= pipette? what is the difference?
tofubox
Essentially an oversized pipette. This turkey baster is about 1ft long in length. Great for blowing detritus off rocks. Picking up suspended dirt in the water column or on sand and also used for large amount of broadcast feeding if required. Multi use tool! tofubox
Some close of shots of my sps. Sorry for the bad quality, using my s3 to take. How to tell if my blue stag is doing well? I can't see much pe on it, compared to the rest of my sps. Colour is still holding well, just not sure if its doing ok. Can advise? tofubox
Can anyone help me out on lighting, I am currently using maxspect 10k, would like to bring out the 16k/ 20k look. Have a spare par38 on hand, possible to supplement lighting with a par38? If so, what led bulb colour do i need to use? Blue? red? If i supplement with par38 for the 16k look, do i need to turn down intensity on the maxspect? Other alternative is to install 2 diy 24w T5, on either side of the maxspect fixture, but that will mean more spending and more complications. Hoping the par38 option is feasible. Please advise guys! Admiraltian
Personally I prefer T5 combo but if u hv a spare par38, can give it a try but dun think it will hv even spread for ur tank. tofubox
Hmm, I can't recall the name. Maybe someone ID it? Yeah, personally i think t5s will be better. But I'm really bad with the diy stuff. I feel 10k and 16k really quite a colour difference for sps corals. Anyone good with diy t5, hit me up please! Quote I Love Stagsss

All the sps guru please advise, is this normal, was told when buying it had lost all its colour. So pink to greenish is normal, or should i give it more light? The BN now is at its best condition since i got it, with plenty of new growth buds oberseved, just the colour change amuse me. tofubox
Review on polyplab products: Now using the full polyplab range of products except Polyplab One, and medic. Recently just purchased polyplab booster, was planning to get acropower, but changed my mind after having a chat with ken at madpetz. Tank vol 30 gallons. Polyplab System Reef resh + Booster + Roids. Hopefully will see some benefits with adding booster to the list. So far system reef resh has proven to be really beneficial to my system. Daily dosing of fuel at 0.6ml. 2 drops of genesis when lights on. 1 drop acid + 1 drop plus nightly after lights go off. Used to only be getting light tea colour in my skimmer, now its really dark, close to black. Nitrates are down to 0.05, phosphates 0. So far really liking their products. Sps corals are better than before, many has coloured up more and very noticeable polyp extensions observed. Only disappointment was i forgot to refrigerate my genesis once after i dosed, not sure if it was affected in any way, nonetheless, i've continued to dose it still. Anyone used booster with Rf acids before? Both products contain high amount of amino acids, im not sure if it will affect the overall system. I have emailed polyplab, awaiting their reply. Last update : for balling method, I have switched over from grotech 1, 2 to ESV 2 part calcium buffer. Anyone used esv products? i'm keen to share the shipping cost from freshnmarine in future if the product performs well. tofubox
My ESV B-ionic Calcium buffer finally arrived! Bought a couple of 500ml spray bottles from daiso and hard plastic air tube from nanyang, removed the spray cap and the plastic air tube fitted right in! So glad i didn't have to poke or drill any holes. Some pictures of my DIY rack with marine magic doser ( 3 channel, 2 for ESV, 1 for Grotech Mag) Just finished setting up the dosing schedule. 30 gallon tank, calculated as 7.5ml / day equal dosage of part 1 and 2 over 7 dosing schedule each. The ESV came in 0.94 liter bottle, at this rate, it can last about 4 months. $11 a month. Will be testing all parameters tomorrow, and review the results daily over the next few days Previously my grotech 1 and 2 could not last me very long. Hopefully I will be impress with ESV, looking forward to the results! Seems very straightforward. If all goes well, gonna get the 2 gallon concentrate (even cheaper overall). Probably last me forever. Lastly, 3/4TS! Quote I Love Stagsss

tofubox
Ic. Pardon me i still very bad at ID-ing sps. I always thought bird of paradize had a green stem with pink-ish / purple polyps. The one i got has green polyps with brown stem. But i think your right now that u mentioned the rounded tips for green birdnest. Thanks bro. I'm really glad i manage to bring the colour back, getting greener each day Quote I Love Stagsss
