cycle without live rock?

should i cycle my tank with live rock or without live rock? the ammonia in the unmature will kill some of the things inside the live rock and cause it smelly right? then why should we cycle the tank with live rock and not putting the cure live rock in after the tank is mature? :o

i didnt said no need LR.. juz tat i see ppl tank in hong kong nv use LR, only after they added in fish, which means the water is cycled, and i dunnoe how.

Everything's sold. Back in 2yrs time.

Its better to have LRs for cycling coz you need some die-offs to start the ammonia spike and then nitrite spike.

I guess you can also do without. Maybe some dead prawn and really good active bacterial to start off the ammonia.

Then again, it means your system is solely dependant on your filtration (ie canister, etc). If it fails, you have no LR as a buffer or something..

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?
