DIY Acrylic Tank

Hi there.

Just some thoughts which I'm still considering.

Looking at DIY a 3x2x1.5 Acrylic Tank.

Based on this dimension, considering using 18mm thickness material.

Still at preliminary stage now as calculating the acrylic thickness and also the time as now my newly setup tank under cycling process.

If to go with it, this will be the next project that i'm going into aside from other home DIY projects which i have designed with autocad and has not excecute it.

Another major factor to consider is the family commitment which i can't neglect.

Tank : 3 x 2 x 1.8 ( setup end Feb 2014 ) --> 4 x 2 x 1.8 ( setup early Nov 2016 )
Skimmer : Bubble Magus NAC6 --> Bubble Magus Curve 7
Return pump : Jebao 10000l/h ( down in 17th December 2014 ) --> Jebao DC-12000 ( 19th December 2014 )
Compressor drop-in coil
Wavemaker : Tunze 6105 x 1
Lights : Modular based DIY LED light x 4

Online calculation showing a 3/8" thickness would be good and another site showing 14mm is good.

I'm using thicker just in case.

Of course the cost of material would be much higher.

I already have a budgetary quote for the 18mm thickness.

For braceless, at least 18mm but if braced then 14mm should be sufficient.

Braceless nicer. If kiasu, go for 19 or 20mm lor..lol!

braceless is good to have i think. I designed mine supposedly braceless with 10mm. Then it bowed. So I have to install bracing. 18mm thick acrylic is not cheap. also need more glue. haha. clarity wont be that obvious even if u use thicker sheets.

I'm now also deciding additional factor which is using thinner acrylic with bracing.

Looking at 14mm and considering how much price diff since i have a quote from dama on the 18mm.
