Hi guys,

Thought I'd share my 5.5 gallon tank.

Trying to be a cost saver (not sure if that is even possible) and minimalist cos I'm still studying so I don't have the real high end specs!

Currently the tank is a 1.5ft x 0.7ft x0.7ft, running a cooling fan and an LED light with 7x12000K 1.5w + 3x'X'LED + 15xActinic Blue 0.24w.

Really new to reefing so please give some chance :)

I intend to keep zoas, sps, anemone and perhaps 1 or 2 clown fishes. Have been dosing Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter7 for a while and now the bottle is finishing. Any idea what else do I need to dose into the tank to keep the corals I intend to keep healthy?

Also, I'm wondering how do zoas spread? If I already have them on a small platform that is already full but not on any rock, will leaning it just against a rock allow it to spread?

Are my corals looking healthy? Or are they doing badly?

Thanks in advance for the help! Sincerely appreciate it!

There's some polyps extension or pe showing on your sps so I guess its not that bad. As for Color can't really tell as pic not that clear. Seem like browning out. Maybe u will need to upgrade to a stronger & better lights if u hv the intention to keep more sps. Cheers & welcome to reefing. And btw u shd post in the member's tank and specs forum instead of here.

Also it seems that your light is dangerously low. At first I thought its not in the pic but its actually hiding behind the tank brim in the pic, am I correct?

You might need to raise the light higher, the LED is also heating up your tank at such close proximity. Suggest you upgrade your light as AdmiralTan said, don't think it is enough for your SPS.

the light is sitting on top of the tank being held by two brackets onto the side of the tank. any suggestions as to how to raise the light higher? will putting a glass cover on top reflect light and cos it to be less efficient?
