SRC Member Aquareef123 Posted February 13, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted February 13, 2014 I made a mistake of introducing wild zoas into my tank without doing any dip and now it is giving me nightmare. My zoas are all still opening well after 2 weeks. My questions are: 1. What is the tell-tale sign that zoas have pest in them? They refuse to open? If the whole colony is opening big big, is that an indication that there is no infestation? 2. Someone told that the pest always stay near to host. Does that mean that if I have 1 zoas on the left and 1 on the right, the pest on the right will not infest the zoas on the left and vice versa? 3. Someone also told me to remove all the wild zoas and start from frag again. Is that sensible to do? Your comments please. Thanks.
SRC Member stevenchia Posted February 14, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2014 You can introduce wrasses into ur tank that will clear the pest. SRC Member Aquareef123 Posted February 14, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2014 Bros, Thanks for the comments. I already have 2 x yellow wrasse. Will try to buy a melanurus if i spot one. As part of my weekly water change, I'm thinking to take out all my zoas to dip in coral RX. But I already have zoas that are growing on the main rock. Can I leave them alone? Will that defeat the purpose of doing the dip in the first place?
rekian
You might wanna check with Henry, he might have melanurus wrasse. I don't think you should remove your zoas and dip in coral RX now. What I do when my tank was infested with Nudi, I hunt them at night. When the zoas polys closed, they can be easily spotted. Btw, why do you think your zoas got pest? Any picture?
