Use sump as frag tank

Does anyone here use a section of the sump as a frag tank? I'm thinking to setup one.

The section can be used as a coral hospital tank or coral quantine tank as well. Anyone has tried it?

Any comments on the lighting? I'm afraid LED may be too bright.

Nice! I thought of doing that but there isn't enough space for macro and frags. Oh and I tried putting corals in the sump with 2 tube 2 feet t5s and they did just fine

That's a good idea. I can even use the T5 for my macroalgae.

Anyone got used 2ft T5 please PM me.

I used part of my sump to keep softies and lps. Use par38 full spectrum as the light source. So far so good. Finger crossing.

Par38 will bleach softies if it's too close to the corals. I think in this case t5 will still be better. Or maybe a dimmable led will work too

@sani just curious, how far is your corals from the light?

Sump depth around 1.5'. Between par to water around 6". Just keep hardy ones.
