SRC Member LittleBurger Posted February 2, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted February 2, 2014 The "full spectrum" chip on board led. I think most of the led light fixture have the single colored led, installed in an array. Pple have been saying abt disco light effect. So I guess some light fixtures utilize those "bug eye" reflectors to spread out the light. And some have to install the light fixture higher above the water surface to have a better light spread. So chanced upon this led. Looks great. Theoretically it should be better than having each individual color led installed. http://www.ledgroupbuy.com/lumia-5-1-100w-full-spectrum-5-channel-led/ Am not saying this led is good but aquarium led tech is still evolving and I just feel the multi chip would be able to mimic that single source of a mh. For those who like to DIY, maybe u would like to try this type of chip. Can also google on chip on board led or multi chip. megacue
Had been very intrrested in the DIY. but the cost add up will almost same as a razor light set. You will need PSU, LDD, 5up board, heat sink, fan, LED and a controller. Shipping from US quite x too. Pro for DIY will be individual part is modular so if thing go wrong, can be easily replace. I want to have an end to led cluster upgrade. Machiam copy iPhone style marketing. Am sourcing new light fixture. Just something to have sunrise n set effect with full spectrum will do. Dun find the need to change color ever so often since corals will be stressed by the changes. SRC Member LittleBurger Posted February 7, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 7, 2014 Haha....your Radion can grade to Pro G3 mah...!I can't convince myself to pay 600 for led clusters, Warranty on these clusters nia. Furthermore if g3 pro. Expect to pay 700-800 for this. 700 for vortech pump im good but not this nonsense. Also the disco light effect... If ecotech comes out with a better led design that solves this then I may upgrade. But just not dumping 600 n more for changing of led colors. No way... If follow the radion marketing style, from g1 to g3 I can change to a custom made acrylic tank.
