SRC Member Aquareef123 Posted January 26, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted January 26, 2014 Looking to change out my skimmer. Currently considering the following: (1) deltec SC2060, (2) Vertex 200 (not sure alpha or omega), (3) bubble-magus Curve 29. All comments or suggestions are welcome. SRC Member angmoh Posted January 27, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted January 27, 2014 perhaps u should share with us what type of setup it would be ? tank size ? the price difference between these few skimmers are pretty wide. of course deltec is the trusted brand. vertex is new but looks promising. curve 9 is value for money.. all got their pros and cons Quote >>
SRC Member Aquareef123 Posted January 29, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted January 29, 2014 My tank is 6 x 3 x 2.5 and 1200l. I mostly keep LPS and softies. My PO4 is very high now and working hard to bring it down.

SRC Member Aquareef123 Posted January 29, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted January 29, 2014 I am using deltec ap1003 out of sump skimmer. The skimmer is rated 5000L. Way over spec. Now im looking for skimmer that meet my tank spec and not so "kick-ass". Hehehe.
SRC Member ASHWIN Posted January 29, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted January 29, 2014 Good To Have Oversized Skimmer Quote 300Gallons of Pure Goodness! >Dimensions 6x2x2 (Foot) 1: Maxspect 160 Watt qty-2 2: Vortech MP 40 Wes 3:Jaebao WP40 qty-2 3: Skimz Becket Skimmer/ Ehiem 1260 4: Dymax XC 900 Calcium Reactor 5: American Pinpoint PH Controller 6: Iwaki MD 55 And MD 70 (Return) 7: Hydra Aquatics FR45 Reactor 8:Hailea 10HP Chiller R2R forum->>>http://www.reef2reef.com/forums/photography-forum/154896-ashwins-reefing-photography.html
SRC Member Aquareef123 Posted January 29, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted January 29, 2014 Good To Have Oversized Skimmer I was told too oversize the tank may not generate enough waste for the skimmer to push the skimmate through the large neck and end up skimming less. So the best is to right size not over size.

SRC Member brojj Posted February 1, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted February 1, 2014 It is a value for $ skimmer. It produces one of the most smelly, yucky skimmate i have ever come across. Good for those on a budget yet wants a decent & powerful skimmer. Make in Singapore, here, meaning in the event of breakdown, spare parts can be obtain in the shortest possible time.
