I tried hailea 1hp and Daikin 1hp compressor. Hailea run 50mins to chill 1 degree. Daikin run for 15mins.

I was using a 1/4 horse for my tank previously . Without using a external thermostat , it took 45-50 mins to cool 0.6deg . After installing a ext thermostat , it took close to 2 hrs to cool 1 degree .

I have since change to a compressor and it took less than 20 mins to go down 1 degree.

Yup. My compressor takes 15mins to chill 1 degree for my 6ft tank. I think long run. Compressor is the way to go.

hi guys, the bulky compressor size are similar of those air con compressor we mount it outside the window. But most compressor user I noticed, install it just beside the fish tank. I wonder if the heat & noise dispense from the compressor is bearable especially mid of the night?

You can install exhaust Fan to draw out the hot air. Set mine at 2 degree diff. 20 mins to chill 2 deg, rest for 90-120 mins. (When 250w MH + 8 x T5 on)

Hi bro , fully aware of your concerns , so far, my experience with compressor it's ok , when the compressor kicks in , not really audible . The warm air it generates dissipate fast .

as the compressor chill down time is short, yr room will not be warm as compared to a aquarium chiller. Power efficiency is better. As for noise, dun think it is audible when u r in yr bedroom. Only con is its big size. If u can have it installed at the air on ledge, it would be perfect.

Yes, you need the higher amps for the compressor.

By the way, my chiller controller seems to show 1 degree difference from my thermometer.

May I know how to set the controller temp to be the same as my thermometer?

Does this compressor require regular maintenance for cleaning? When I perform maintenance check and routine cleaning on my common chiller, i would noticed dirts accumulated on the alum fins and blower side.

Been using it since setup. Once my helper turn it off by mistake, temp went up to 29°C. Turn back on, down to 26°C in an hour

compressor still better compare to chiller as chiller never stop running and you can feel more heat in long run if you using chiller

Not true, it depend on the right size of tank for the right chiller or compressor. Chiller are still the most efficient for small volume tanks.

You need to make judgement base on the times it run and space

No, you need to make judgement on the amount power it take in each time it kick in. Compressors draws alot more power than a chiller.

isnt 2 degree swing a little too much?

i thought 0.5-1 degree is advisable?

I had mine set betw 26.5c and 28c (1.5c swing ) for sps dominated tank. Compressor take high amp when cut in so if too frequent, it draw consume more electrcity.

2 degree swing is enough to kill sensitive freshwater shrimp(crs family)

not sure how it will affect marine life in long run
