SRC Member ml708 Posted January 5, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2014 I have 3 in my tank, and my sandbed is only 2-3 in thick so what they do is bury themselves at an angle until they sometimes totally disappear. Their home cannot be disturbed or they will attempt to jump out of the tank. I feed them every morning with cyclopeeze. They seem to love it! They don't seem to like mysis as much but they do eat it and pacific krill they attempt to swallow but its too big so they eventually spit out. Strangely enough they are not territorial and even share burrows at times. I keep them with flashlight fish and orange spot filefish and they do not bother each other. I think they feed actively because their tankmates are not threatening. How many do you have?
carfyx
Wahh ! Envy ! I cant keep for more than a week. Both died . First - infection at the mouth ( a big red patch at lower jaw ) not active even at LFS . Second - melted fin and tail , skin seems to be wearing . May i know is there any other invertebrates in your tank and which LFS you got the jawfish from ? Seems like i'm unable to get a healthy specimen . SRC Member ml708 Posted January 5, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2014 Yeah there are some acro, Duncan, fan sponge, sea squirts, mushroom coral and tree corals. I have shaving brush algae and chaetomorpha too. I got them from new trio some time back, but unlikely they have a shipment now. When I went there a few days ago all sold. Typically in lfs they aren't active as there is no sand bed, so they curl up. Best way is to gently prod them and see if they move rapidly away. But even with sand they are not very active and stay in their burrow or hover around it.
