How often should I feed puffer?

Recommended Posts

Fishes in the wild rarely get to eat daily ( Including puffer ) . You can feed a small amount daily , just observe his stomach ( a starving fish or under nutrition has sunken belly ) .

Its normally for them to pretend

As a rock as it's some form of defense mechanism. Just make sure they are not leaning or swim one sided. Thats is an indication of them falling sick :)

Hope it helps !

I used to feed 2x a day.

Given the habit of them being a messy eater, need to change water often.

With enough feeding the puffer will be fat and more comical with rounded body. With less feeding they will appear slim which is most of the case when they were just caught from the wild.

Oh ya

once they "recognised" you, they will be very "excited" when seeing you and follow you in the direction you go in the tank. They know they will get food from you. You can even feed using your hand and they will pick from.

They really behave like a doggy.

The same behaviour now is with my blue jaw trigger fish (which is supposed to be in the same family as puffer fish)
