Hi guys want to improve my T5 light performance so read up a bit online.

Think to add on a couple of fans on it, as what ati set did.

Got a question before i start.

Which is more important to cool down? T5 bulbs or ballast?

Ati light set does to both.

Ballast for longer ballast life as they have a optimal runing temp.

Light tubes for dispersing the heat from the t5s to the tank, I dun think there is any effect on the performance as the tubes still need to be replaced in a year.

But are you using it on a existing fixture or a new diy set.

There is an optimum cooling rate for the light tubes. Too little or too much actually reduced the light tubes performance. Best to cool the tubes at the side & never at the center, if u intend to cool down the tubes as well.

This is new, I didnt know.. I used to cool them becos it is in a enclosed hood.. So I need to get the heat out.. but I guess if it is open concept the temp should be within the the optimal?

I did not know that untill i came across this while searching google on T5. Internet is an ocean of vast infos. I learn a lot of things from there. I took 2 weeks to read slowly & digest the infos.
