Hi Bros,

Recently thought of investing in a UV filter, but after some readings and research I found out that as effectively that they kill parasites and others etc, they also kill off the good stuff supposedly. I would like to know if anyone here runs them and felt that it is essential to keep it and how it has been beneficial.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I also read that it also kills good stuff so my UV set is still in a box...

Depending on what you trying to get rid of. If you are trying to get rid of PO4 & NO3 to minimize the growth of Algae, you can also consider Bio Pellet Reactor. You may read up on the Bio Pellet Reactor to see its benefits. :)

i tried using the bio pellets but it seems theres a stringy brown kind of algae growing very fast on my glass everywhere. once i stop the bio pellets these brown hair algae stop growing. is there a possibility the bio pellets are providing nutrients for these algaes?
