PH 7.8 ok?

Hi Guys,

Am wondering whether 7.8 is ok . There are heaps of articles stating that the sweet spot is 8.0 - 8.2 for sps. Some mentioned more about how stable/swings it gets during the day. I'm using calcium reactor and maintaining the PH readings at 6.6.

I have aquatronica 3 dosing pumps that includes alk but dose in the morning only. should it be in staggered consistent dose during the day? Any dosing sifus do advise. My readings day is at 7.8 and at night 7.83 (swings at .03 avg) .

Sometimes i get alerts in the morning my ph goes as low as 7.75

My other readings checked recently are

alk 9dkh

calcium 430

mg - 1280

redox - 444mv

nitrite/nitrate/amm 0

phos - 0.25 (still battling for 0)

i wouldnt be concern if your PH fluctuates between 7.8 - 7.83. its a tad low but very stable. I would just monitor and leave it. however, do buffer it up if it goes below 7.8

You can dose Kass to push up your PH. But if everything is ok I will just maintain it.

Today my CO2 gas finish liao and now taking in notice without my CR. My readings changed as follows

PH 8.03

CAPH 7.77

Redox 399mv

It seems my PH goes to 8 range but my redox drop by 50 points. Have not checked my KH though.

Reckon the CR creates the stability not to fluctuate the PH

Maybe your co2 is overdosed and leak into the main tank. I would add kalk to boost ca and alk while increasing ph

noted. I have the PH monitor inserted in the CR. is it not right to set the readings at 6.6? Or should i look into the bubble count from CO2 to chamber?

The bubblecount is a guide.. inserting the ph probe in the cr chamber is an accurate way of knowing your effluent ph is low enough to dissolve the media. 6.6 is a right value. But I guess somehow your co2 leak into the display. U have enough media in the reactive chamber? Lowering the outflow might reduce the low ph prob, then u might have to recalibrate your co2 feed to the chamber too.

Do buffer your PH levels up. It may seem fine now but it will affect your sps in the long run. just my 2cents worth.
