Wish to ask if anyone knows how to distinguish these 2 powders.

I suppose adding a kh solution into seawater, u would see "clouds" forming but not Ca. Am i right on this?

I was mixing my kh powder, saw some white "cappucino" forming at surface & looks weird so use a dropper n put some into my tank. No "cloud" form.

If kh does form clouds n not Ca, then i would suppose the label on the container is wrong.

Here's a pic of my calcium chloride powder which I bought. I observe them to be white, opaque and snow flake-like as opposed to sodium bicarb which tends to be powdered form most of the time.

so did u observe any cloudiness formed when the kh is dosed?

I usually add Reef Builder(SeaChem) premixed with RO water directly into a high flow area in the sump. Haven't observed any apparent cloudiness.

Usually cloudiness could mean precipitates. I would check for any buildup amongst my pumps first. Then followed by a kH test of the aquarium water. Otherwise, the cloudiness should only be temporary when you are adding due to dilution of the saltwater. To be safe, if its something unknown to me, I wouldn't take the chance to add in it.

Spare the few dollars and save your aquarium instead.

My 2 part kh when added to tank, there will be a moment of cloudiness n then clear up. I was expecting the same for the powder form.

Solution will feel little slippery after adding kh powder. Solution will feel slightly hotter after adding in ca powder.
