About Chromis

I used to keep Chromis.. handful of them.

They were given by my Aquarium set up company as part of the package.

Somehow they slowly passed on until 2 left.

Is it true that we cannot keep a School of Chromis .... say about more than 10 of them in our aquarium? Will they eventually and surely become lesser and lesser ?

Thought of keeping a school of them again but hear say has always been a stopper for me to re-keep them in school ...

Anyone care to share about their knowledge & experience here ?

I heard that a lot too. Eventually the number will come down. But it seem like they are schooling fishes.

Just my logical thinking, they can be in a school in the wild as there are vast space and big ocean with natural predator. Schooling is a natural behavior for some fishes as it protects them from their prey.

However, when they are captive in a tank, space becomes restricted, there are no longer natural predator present, and hence slowly every individual fish will try to territorise their own territory. Thus, the end result will be fighting among themselves until the number of fishes where space is sufficient for.

Make sense? This is just my obervation from watching Discover Channels and Animal Planets.

Makes sense to me.

So if my tank consists of Angels, Gardibardi Damsel & Hawk Fish ... Does that help ?
