Banded shark egg advise needed

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a banded shark egg from a LFS and have placed it in my tank hanging upright. It is still in its early stage as I can only see the embryos.

I understand after some researching online that it take about 130days to hatch.

Is there any other things I need to take note of like if I'm hanging it upright is ok for the embryos?

Water flow in the tank from wave maker? Should I leave the wave maker on?

I do see abit of a layer of whitish colour on the surface of the capsule. Is that normal?

Hope someone can advise me.

Have you observed how the LFS keep the shark egg ?

If i not wrong you got the egg from a LFS in the west

Maybe you can give the LFS owner a call and ask the care needed during the early stage.

The hardest part is to make the banded shark to eat when it hatched.

Do read up on the web during this period before it hatch.

I saw how it was let lying on it's side at the shop. But I was told by the shop owner I can also hang it upright.

Anyway its 130 days to hatch so I still have some time to do more research online.

Dun have to hang.just place on sand bed.

I don't have and sand in my tank.

Initially I let it sit on a LR but it's hard for me to observe the embryos so decided to hang it against the wall of the tank.

the important thing is to keep water flowing through the egg, i.e. avoid stagnant spot in the tank, so as to provide enough oxygenation for the embryo.

It looks like not much happening to the embryo. Have been the same inside for over a month now.

Can get them from pasir ris LFS .. Not always available but seen them a few times.

Bro, as I mentioned in the other thread, ML gets these eggs sometimes. Maybe can ask Henry to special order for you.
