hey people, so my maxima which i keep for a pretty long time suddenly decides to stay half open. Just happened that a newly introduced yellow coris wrasse was hovering around it all day and pecking at it's shell. i was busy and didn't thought of it having pest pyramid snails.
So an hour ago, i finally got the time to take a good look at the clam's shells and gosh, there was at least 30 - 50 of those tiny snails! and at least a couple hundreds of eggs. so i spent the next half an hour scrapping out all the eggs and removing as much snails as i can. those deep inside the shells i went on to super glue them, which will probably kill the whole clusters hiding.
The thing is, my last introduced clam was a crocea which is probably few months back. all were very healthy and this problem only came to light after the clam was half close 2 days ago.
the snails were probably brought it when i introduced some frags or some sort.
a cluster of snails on the top right side from the flash light. i glued them up. Hopefully this will kill them.
hopefully those eggs/snails i missed the wrasse will take care of it.. got to check on this fella every few days.. hopefully this wont stress it too much.
Guys, check ur clams! even if they were looking healthy.

You don't have to worry as clam at Iwarna are imported from exporters that perform QC checks before they are shipped out.

Pyramid snails are usually found on clams coming from poorly maintained export & holding facilities, which we do not import from.

That is why cheap clams always have a caveat.

Always something more important than fish.
