Forgot to show the sump.. Looking good without all the nonsense filter socks and filters.. Just ceramic rings and let the magic begin..

Do you smell what my tank is cooking..

Ceramic rings can be a nitrate factory if u dun maintain it well. IMO filter sock r easier to maintain & clean.

Bro, nice..when can visit u?..haha

Btw, for ur sump setup, its better to have filter sock or any other filter media like sponge that enable u to change/wash..this is very important for fishes..unless u only intend to keep little n small fishes only..u will notice that the water will not b clear as time go by with fishes like tangs especially eat n poo, without filter media..

I agree, but having socks filter and the rest is also the same.. When you cleaning your filter, you lose bacterial. My tank is 1,1/2week old and its clear water. I just do top up with tap water + salt mix and water change.

Soon bro, when I put fishes.. I only intend to put small ones.. My filter media is the hydro stream + uv. I let the skimmer does its job. So far, so good..

the filter socks are used to trap dirt and not to cultivate or house bacteria so it is ok to lose bacterial on them.

likewise filter sponge or wool works similar. however if you use biohome, bac king, ceramic ring etc. we dont clean them like how you clean your socks and wools. In that way you dont lose the bacteria needed for your tank to cook your livestocks.

And if you smell what your tank is cooking means you have a tank crash. lol!!

have fun reefing!

Started 10mins, so not all corals open yet.

Thanks bro.

You have use this setting long time ?

Must have full lights for long time ?

How many meters is your light setup from the top of the tank ?

Ok bro..let see how good QH's OF hydra system is in term of breaking down fish's poopoo aka ammonia and keeping the water clear without any filteration media..

I intend to get OF hydra50 and install in my sump..getting this instead of the stream version is I can remove n use in my QT if needed to..

Happy reefing..

Hi bro, have been using this settings since around Oct. Can see the zoas open up all the way and no stretching of the polyps. Previously was only around 6 inch away from the tank. Now is at 10 inch from the tank. I prefer around 5-6 hours of full light for the corals to absorb them.

Tank: 3.5ft x 2ft x 1.5ft, 12mm

Sump: 3ft

Skimmer: Bubble Magus Curve 7

Lightings: Maxspect 15000k
