Pregnant Purple Firefish

Bought a pair of purple firefish two months back, never expect it to pair up

The pair have make themselves at home within one of the LR. The pair have been acting strangly last few weeks.

Had noticed one of the fish tummy getting bigger.

If they really breed within my tank, wonder whether my true percula pair will eat up the baby firefish

wahh..CONGRATS.....

i have been trying to find out about the breeding of purple firefish and to my dismay, no records is found..seems tough or almost impossible to keep frys alive...

please keep us posted what you have in due time... i have 3 of them i am sure that at least 2 of them could pair up and there has been no fighting since i have placed them three in for about 3 months now...

of course. Most fish eat fries (not french fries ). If you thinking of breeding it, take it out.

Wow! Would be great if you manage to breed them!! No doubt the clowns will eat the firefish fry. I suggest removing the clowns... perhaps a reason to get another tank.

If my orchid dottybacks ever pair up (i.e. mate) , I will remove all the other fish in the tank. No kidding!

CONGRATS , So lucking that U had a pair of Purple Firefish..... Must keep on eyes for the pair... Try to remove other fishes if U can......

Just noticed this morning that the female fish tummy is gone and both fish are guarding their bolt hole.

Wonder whether the female had layed the egg inside?

My pair of clown had been sticking closly to the anemone i bought for them, dun even bother to wonder around the tank.

Will post update if they is progress.

well.. i would like to check if female purple fish is the on that is always found near its bolt hole??? mine has been hiding in the bolt hole for a few days already.... occassionally peeping its head out to greet the others. wonder if it's getting its nest ready or merely afraid of the other fishes??

Yup, most of the time. Only the male fish swim around the tank. The female fish is always near the bolt hole.

wah..thanks marine... hmm...goody good, i would also watch out for the purple firefishes... that would mean i have 2 purple firefish and 1 female in its bolt hole

One of fish is resting on the sand bed outside the bolt hole, seem to be guarding the it.

It knock itself against my percula when they came too near, my hand too. The purple firefish is getting very territorial.

Wonder how long it take for the egg to hatch.
