Red algae??

You've got cyanobacteria. Darn tough thing to eradicate.

It is harmful! Will overgrow corals and fix nitrogen. Not to mention butt ugly. Nothing really eats them.

Increase nutrient export, reduce feeding, increase alk and pH, if using MH replacing old bulb might help.

I've fought them twice before and got rid of all visible cyano. Some will still be in the sandbed, but that's normal. Do a search and you will come up with the method I've used.

I recommend Redslime remover by ultralife

It cleared my redslime completely in a week

but I'm having brown algae now due to the increased lighting  :cry:

Is brown algae = diatoms? :upsidedown:

Cos diatoms are caused by: (1) Indequate lightings

(2) High SILICA in water colume
