Skimmer crazy due to UltraLife Red Slime Remover

Hi bros,

Hope someone can shed some light on this.

I used UltraLife Red Slime Remover about 3 weeks ago. By the 4th day, cyano were completely gone and skimmer was turned back on. As expected, the skimmer go crazy and overflow. I am forced to shut it off since it is making my cabinet wet.

After 1 week, I turned on skimmer again and secretly hope miracle would happen but it continues to overflow. Hence I took action to make 2 WC change within 1 week, first 20% second 30% ... after the 2nd WC, the skimmer is still crazy...now I am going crazy haha...

Anyone can suggest what to do? I doubt I should do a 100% WC :(

Should I just let the skimmer on and overflow till it quiet down? Will it eventually quiet down?

Currently I am letting the overflow water flow back to the sump...

Thank you.

Regards,
Jeff

Thanks. I am using the BM NAC9 and I already adjusted the air valve to the minimum but it still overflow.

When you said skimmer level, are you referring to lowering its height? Because currently I do use egg crates to raise its level...so lower it will help?

Jeff

Lower wont helps.. may be higher. I used same chemical before. I off skimmer for 2 weeks. Then 20% water change. Follow by set skimmer to minimum. After 1 week everything back to normal. All the best bro.

i thought the instruction say skimmer can be continued to operate as usual?

I read online, most people recommend to off skimmer.

Can I check that after your 20% wc, the skimmer will still overflow even when you go minimum? Because mine is still overflowing even when i tried minimum already. So wondering if i should just leave it on for a week to see how..

I used before. The best way to solve IT is water change

But no need 100%

U Can use skimmer for waterchange, skimed out 20% should stop liao

Thanks but not sure if this method will really work because I already left my skimmer on and so much water is overflowing for hours...if I let it skim out...maybe 100% will be gone haha...

Jeff

Not sure why need to use this product, as can kill all the beneficial bacteria as well.

Better find the root cause of cyno outbreaks, mostly phosphates.

Use GAC more extensively, cut down light usage on the tank, cut down additives, suck the cyno out, less feeding, more frequent water change, better husbandry....

Putting more snake oil in the tank might solve one problem but create others... well, that's my opinion...

After 10 days, the NAC skimmer is still overflowing. I figured out if I block half of the air outlet, the bubbles get control and wont overflow. So I used a blue tack to block it temporary to let the skimming level go back to normal. I hope this will not break the skimmer :(
