Eheim Compact+ 5000

Hi all reefers, any reviews on this pump for FOWLR. Tank size is 3ft 2ft 2.5ft. Current pump is Dymax PH2500. Any other recommendation of pump? Appreciate all reply.

Your current return pump is too weak for your tank. Eheim makes very good and durable pumps so your selection is good. However good pumps don't come cheap. Price difference of your current pump and the Eheim 5000 will be significantly large. You may also consider something in between like DD h2ocean 5000 which is quite compact but reasonably powerful.

Difference as in which one better n strong..

I believe 1264 Shd b the better pump as its more expensive..but the specs are lower than compact +5000..so I was thinking issit that 1264 got lesser headloss than the other?..appreciate all experiences n knowledges..

I believe compact 5000 is an in-sump only pump whereas 1264 is both in/out of sump pump.

Personally I prefer out of sump return pump.

- less heat, less work for chiller

- more space in sump for other equipment

Both are just as good. 1264 has a fixed flow rate & bigger footprint, compact 5000 has adjustable flow rate & smaller. If u ask me, I will opp for dd 5000. Almost same rating as compact 5000, yet lower in price.

Ok thks alot..I believe most are having the pump in the sump although the pump is universal..I think its lesser trouble as in no need to drill hole on sump..lesser chance of leakage..run in sump can cool the pump thus prolong its running hours..

1264 & compact 5000 the price diff is a lot..woo..

D-D is under deltec if i am not wrong i am using D-D 5000 and the return pump is quite silent , powerful and i never have problem unil now ( have use close to 20 month )

not sure about the headloss, hearsay dd5000 had better headloss then ehiem compact series. i maybe wrong. dont quote me

Used 5000 compact before, the shaft gave way after few years, and this nver happen before in the standard model..
