Can I keep this crab in my nano reef tank?

This crab hitched-hike on a coral I got from CF.

I would like to keep it, but am worried if it is reef-safe.

Can anyone advise, thanks.

Well if you are really afraid , then perhaps the sump will be a better place. Most reef safe crabs belong to the trapezia and tetralis family. They are usually red purplish in colors .

My tank is IOS type. No sump to house it.

Mine is more of the brown color, so meaning its not reef safe?

I current only have some lps corals, a few fishes (smallest one about 3cm), a blood fire shrimp and skunk cleaner shrimp. This crab is about 1.5cm.

What is the color of the top of its claws? If it's black remove it without delay! It would be a gorilla crab if it has black claw tips! Dangerous!

looks can be deceiving! I feel it's better to throw out any crabs which cannot be IDed due to the dangers. No one wants to see corals gone the next morning due to a silly crab!

I'm sorry bro, but it is 90% gorilla crab. Even if if is not it is a hairy crab, which isn't safe for tanks. Either flush it down the drain or give it to a mantis shrimp owner (crabs are a treat for them haha at least make it's life worth something ). Trust me you don't want to play with this. If you keep it I'm very sure you would love to throw it out within a few weeks, and by then it would be hard to catch as it would be too familiar with your tank

haha don't take the risk. If you want crabs buy crabs from people who have a full ID on them, and try not to keep hitchhiker crabs. But it's up to you haha I can't stop you, all I can do is advice you not to keep it! hope you listen and get rid of it

This crab in the pic look like one which I put in my sump refugium..its being taken out by TFC's Benny which id it to be a pest..
