SRC Member Evolutionz Posted September 15, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted September 15, 2013 orphek's price is cheaper compared to radion and AI. like what sunymau said. IMO the light set that is least worth it's price is the radion. Charging so much and yet its the most commonly seen fixture to get serviced/fixed. SRC Member brojj Posted September 15, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted September 15, 2013 Bro sunnymau, i am speechless. What u are telling me now regarding the coverage by orphek & other brands will need 2 units is what i had told henry from marinelife yesterday. Yes u are damm right about the numbers of units needed to cover a 3 ft properly. One orphek is enough compared to other brands which will required 2. But the $$$ is what turns me off in the very 1st place. But after seeing your corals pics, i think it is worth that price. But i am comfortable using T5 now. I will wait for orphek next generation lightset. Dun know what will be the name but hopefully it can outperform it precessor, atlantik, something which i am sure it will. Then i shall jump back to LEDs, using orphek. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

My only pro with LED when taking pic, very diff to get the correct WB U can see how high i hang my light, is definitely more than 1ft, most likely 15 inches above the tank.. SRC Member brojj Posted September 15, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted September 15, 2013 Quite high up. But orphek is design & built to penetrate deep tanks, so 15" up will still be no problem for it. And of course built, based on PUR. I am a strong believer on PUR than PAR. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

SRC Member solasido Posted September 16, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2013 One thing on LED is that it is an "emerging" technology now. So what is best now will probably obsolete next year. For instance now LED set starts incorporating hyper violet, uv, etc. I think I agree with "wait and see" approach regarding LED if existing lighting is good. Up to a point where price has come down with improved quality. I really regretted buying lumenaqua brite RGB last year because that it is effectively obsolete in term of spectrum, power, and packaging. Which is also why I would consider a upgradable version of the led which allow upgrade of both hardware and software for my next set of leds lighting. sunnymau
Haha, for those who are skeptical about whether led can color up sps, should go take a look at deseria's tank, her sps is one of the best I came across. using only single led set. I just collected royal blue millie from her and seen the tank personally.

SRC Member brojj Posted November 18, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted November 18, 2013 I have read up on AI hydra 52. On other forums. More cool whites are put into this lightsets. Those who prefer whiteish lights will like this. For those who prefer more blues, they might stay away from this unless they don't mind to tune the blues to very high & cool whites to very low ( what is the point of getting it in the 1st place if have to tune to so high to get the blues?).
