Help for my WeiPro 2013 Skimmer

I have installed a Weipro Skimmer 2013 after a week of tank run in...I keep few fishes in my 3FEET>..and transferred my 2 feet into ..the refugium. ITs connected to my 1800 L/H Atman Power Head.

However, its not skimming effectively...I wonder if the water level is the cause...DO I keep water level lower where the sticker is or raise water level to slow down speed speed of flow or raise it higher near the cup?

Is my Power Heard ok for my 3013? How long does it take to "break in"?

Hi,

The water level should be slightly above the round black ring. I believed your power head is little bit undersized, i'm using 2300l/h for my 2012, you should use 3000l/h.

The pump size depend on a number of factors. Using in sump or externally, water level, pump brands etc. I was using Atman 2000lt/hr pump for my 2013 and had no problem. very thick kopi.

Currently, my 2014 is running on an Eheim 1250 rated at 1200lt/hr and it still produced thick kopi.

I would advise setting the water level too high. If set too high, you will get skimate faster but it would be very wet and light brown color (like green tea). I normally set my to 1cm below the top ring. I get dryer foam and draker skimmate.

Paiseh. the pump is atman 1800lt/hr one. also tried wit the atman 104 2000lt/hr, also same effect.

i have the same problem with my 2013 . running with a weipro 4000 . but cant get any skimate at all ... have adjusted water level to black oring lowest to sticker level .. its bubbling well but just that the foam wont form and move up .. been running for bout a month already ...

I guess my question here is how fast can you produce the black skimmate?

If I set the water lever low, it needs more than a week to collect just 1cm in the collection cup. So don't think it's efficient. If I set the water lever higher, eventhough not very thick, but I am happy to collect a cup every few days.

my weipro 2012 also stop producing form now using ehiem to power it and i just empty once only ??

but that's bluffing yourself. What you are skimming is saltwater. Like a teaspoon of coffee in 1/4 cup of water and a teaspoon in one cup although is one cup but still 1 teaspoon of coffee.

In the pic, the kopi needs to be emptied every day added 7-8 kg of uncured rocks into it. Cos the cup reach 1/3 full but so much bubbles that they will leak out of the cup.

Later after the rocks was cured, need to clear every 2-3 days. very thick and very stinko kopi.

My 2014 in my main tank is cleared every 4-5days. The cup reach 2/3 and I clear it. very thick also. But less than the holding tank probably due to increase water volume. 20times increase ke ke....

tanggy i use to have lot of form when i first use it but after a few week the form stop forming on the collection cup wat the cause of it ??? btw when u empty ur collection cup do u need to clean the funnel part where the collection cup is connected to the skimmer

I normally clean off the slime in the riser tube and the collection cup everytime I empty the cup.

Could be a number of reason. But it should be less than what you started with out with unless you are under skimming your tank.

Efficient skimming - the skimmer is starting anew and got tons of waste to skim. later as the waste is removed, it will only skim what is produced by the system. eg. fish poo, dead alage, organics etc....

wrongly set - water level in main tank will affect the water level in the skimmer.

tank water parameters. - thesalinity of our tank has a great impact on the skimmer. the more salt the finer the bubbles and the less salt the bigger the bubles. hold salinity as stable as you can. have experience in my QT of my skimmer which was skimming fine but a top-up coz it to rebreakin and settings to change due to a drastic change in salinity (1.024to 1.021) and water level.

as for me....initially i tape my desired tank water level 1st(for topup purpose)....let it break in ......will adjust level lower at skimmer cause getin green tea....n i mean adjust lower is a very very fine turn at the skimmer discharge valve.....tatz wat i practice.......

ohh.. i adjust until same like tanggy for arond 4 days ..the whole thing turn black but never produce any foam... leh.
