Saltedpals
Hi..got an anemone along with one pair of percula clownfish the other day. Questions? How often does the anemone eats? What can I feed it with besides little pieces of prawn meat? (Sorry don't exactly know the name of the anemone..will post a pic soon)
SRC Member patrick123 Posted February 9, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 9, 2004 I feed my anemonie once a day with Tetra anemonie tablet.
Saltedpals
My anemone is about the size of two fist. Can those tablets still be used for bigger anemones such as mine?
tuan
Pretty much anything meaty - squid, cockles, fish bits, prawns etc... don't force feed it, just drop the food onto the tentacles. If its hungry it will take it in. You can also try "waving" the food (like a piece of fish) brushing the tentacles to simulate a struggling fish. Saltedpals
Currently have a 3 ft tank... at moment using an 18 watt marine white light from arcadia. Will fix stronger light later. But for the moment is the light sufficient?
RAV-65
Honestly, last time when i had an anemone, dun have to feed it, just have to drop the drawn meat into the tank and the clownsfish would drag it into the anemone... kekekeke..... and soon after fedding a few times with prawns, the fella grew very huge!!! until i have to remove it to maintain space in my tank.... so feed moderately.... Anemone
18Watts are not enough. IMO FLs cannot provide enough light for the anemone. try T5s. PLs may work too.

Dunno if its because they are small and more dependant on filter feeding.. Quote Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? SRC Member joachimsim Posted February 10, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 10, 2004 Do anemones sting and kill the other marine Aquarium fishes?
SRC Member arcanehacker Posted February 10, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted February 10, 2004 Do anemones sting and kill the other marine Aquarium fishes? they'll sting but fishes will know how to stay away from them.. tuan
Do anemones sting and kill the other marine Aquarium fishes? Yes - that is a risk. Most of the time fishes will stay away - sometimes they do get brushed with the tentacles and suffer. If there are resident clowns it reduces the risk as the clowns will defend their home vigorously and keep other fishes at bay.
