SRC Member nicreef Posted August 27, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted August 27, 2013 Hi, as i am in the process of implementing my dosing pump, i measured my mg,ca and kh on sat, sun and today. the problem is that my mg had a sudden drop from 1260 - 1140 (salifert test kit) from ytd to today. KH was dropping by 0.3 - 0.4 per day as usual (maintaining it at 7.8-8.2 by dosing sodium bi carbonate) ca has been dropping from 415 to 400 to 390 today (dint buff it much as my dosing pump started running today only wanted to let the dosing pump do the work) mg was at 1240 (sat) dropped to 1140 (mon), i increased it back 1260 but dropped to 1140 again today. recall reading somewhere that it can be due to ca being low?? while on this anyone has aquafuana contact? cant find it and urgently need hanna checker kh reagent. running low due to extensive testing lately =x
kraken
check your calcium, if your MG is low, your calcium will be low too

Admiraltian
I got this issue also.. So I did water change.. I don't know why.. I tested mg low.. Added mg then next day tested mg drop by are 100 and also kh drop.. When your mg low, it will be hard to maintain your other paras like ca & kh. Need to buffer up to at least 1200mg/l if not u will alway have problem keeping ca and kh levels stable. Deron Ng
I heard from some where if you dose mg too quickly.. Will cause co2 to increase bringing your ph down.. Then your kh will work harder to maintain the ph.. Thus dropping also is this true?
