Area of triangle - (8 x 3)/2=12

Area of a trapezium - [5(3+5)]/2 = 20

Total area of figure - 2 x 12 + 2 x 20 = 64

Therefore, rectangle is an optical illusion. In reality the lines won't match perfectly.

Also the angles for the triangles and trapeziums don't match.

i.e. arctangent 13/5 is not equal to arctangent 8/3, difference is very small though.

This is truly amazing guys ... true CHAOS THEORY at work here ;)

Started as optical illusion, and one thing led to another.....just like my thread :D

(For those interested in Chaos theory, do a search, the 'Butterfly Effect' is quite amazing)
