readings all great except for alkalinity

Hi all,

So here are my readings

NO4 - 0

PO4 - 0

Mag - 1380

Cal - 435

Salinity - 1.026

Alkalinity 6.608 :cry2:

i've been doing weekly water changes and dosing polyp lab (daily) and Julian Sprung's Sea Elements (wkly).

When i tested alkalinity about a month ago it was at 10+.

No clue why it suddenly dipped.

Help!

A lot of SPS?

Yours KH is really low.

Try to maintain at 8 to 9

But do not increase fast.

Increase slowly over say 1.5 months.

Any changes in more then 1 at short period of time

is not encourage

Sump area lite by 5 ft T5 , 6 * SSC 3 watt red LED for refugium

1 Full spectrum E27 led light

1 CR control by bubble count

Start No Water Change since 1st Dec 2016

Add new 2.5x2x 1.5 ft

would be prudent to retest the water with another test kit or get someone else to test your water. However, I felt that your sps are diminishing the dKh levels, you can try to take the daily intake amounts by making notes and data. Thereafter, once you see a trend, you would be able to dose daily or a few days to stabilize the dKH.

I'm quite sure is your SPS depleting the kH :) Slowly dose back to 9 or 10.

2x1.5x1.5 tank

Lighting: AI hydra 52HD

Skimmer: Deltec SC 1455

Reactor: Minimax; rowaphos

Skimz  ; NP biopellets

Wave Maker: MP 40 WQD

Return pump: Eheim 1262

Chiller: Arctica 1/10 hp

How much KH buffer r u dosing? Maybe its not enough. Have u tried increasing the amt and see if there's any difference?

Corals depleted carbonate very fast. U need to start dosing soon.
