Filter wool and KH

Will filter wool absorb KH and reduce KH ?

I'm having difficulties maintaining above 8.5 .

My KH reads. :

In the morning : 7 to 7.5

When lights turn on. : 7.5 to < 8

PH : 8 - 8.15

CA - 450

MG - 1280

I really dun think wool absorb Kh. what i used to know is pH, GH and KH are all related. for KH reading if i am not wrong will be higher then your pH. it seems ur pH is higher then ur kH. Which means the water is not very buffered? BTW, what test kit u using? today i tried 2 brands both different reading

I've used both Redsea and API rest kits and both has different reading , with Redsea reading 7.5 which API reads 8 going to 9 drops ( which means 8.5-9.0 Kdh

Your mg slighly low,bring up your magnesium(mg) in between 1300 to 1500 will help.

ALK swing? If problem is still not solve after the following the advise given above, u can consider running a refugium or algae scrubber in your sump & the photoperiod of your refugium or algae scrubber to be reverse that of your main DT. Meaning, when the lights in your DT is on, the lights at the sump for refugium or algae scrubber to be off & vice versa. Running refugium or algae scrubber also helps to reduce your NO3 & PO4, minimise the negative effects of ALK/ KH swing & a place for pods to reside & reproduce which in turn when some of this pods find their way to the DT, becomes food for the fishes.

I am having problem of keeping ph even with high dkh.. But don't think it has anything to do with wool.. Maybe try dripping limewater.

Limewater or kalkwasser only suitable for maintain water parameter that already stable.Ph range from 7.9 to 8.4 are acceptable .no need to aim special fix value because we not calculating rocket science.enjoy your saltwater keeping more.

Lost 1 small batch of golden eye Zoa . KH now seems in check for the moment , hovering around 8.0 morning and 8.5 when lights turned on .

just to share. there was tis time when my fishes went missing 2 x angels. pH is like dropping lowest abt 7.8 which is not ideal. reduce bioload and now water is maintaining at 8.2ish. so maybe there is a root cause to this
