Hi guys, can anyone help me on how to convert my PL into T5? what are the items i need to buy and steps for doing this project.

are you going to use the same casing from the PL?

if so, the only difference is the ballast, end caps and the light tubes.

you'll need:

-ballast can be bought at Sim Lim Towers,

3rd or 4th flr, shop's name is sinter.

think they only carry 39w only now.

-end caps can also be bought there.

if you prefer the waterproof kind,

think a few LFS still has them,

you might want t ask Henry from ML,

think watercircle also may have.

os you might want to ask if anyone here has extra from the

last bulk order.

-light tubes

think thats self explanatory

the instructions on how to hook up the wiring and all

can be found on the ballast.

if you happen to buy form sinter,

they will also sell you the wires and give you a short explanation.

its really quite easy ;)

do we need 0ne ballast per tube .. or a 40W ballast can supply to 2 tube of 40W.. ??

and can any tell me the price of the 39W ballast at sinter..

becoz i saw some E-ballast of 40W at Aq""St"r .. selling at $10 each ..

dunno cheap or ex ..

Yes.Easily coverted as long as the tube can go into the casing.

I have just done 1 set yesterday.

1 Full spectrum E27 led light

1 CR control by bubble count

Start No Water Change since 1st Dec 2016

Add new 2.5x2x 1.5 ft

You can chose to have 1 ballst per tube or 1 ballst 2 tubes.

I think what you see is EBallast for T8 and not for T5.

Never come across so cheap one yet.

Sorry for the late reply.Did not read this thread a few days already.

I assume you have a FL set now.

If you have and you are using back the casing,then remove whatever you do not need.(tube holders,starter,ballst,and FL tubes.

Depending on how many tubes you are installing you can buy the right eballast for the tube you are installing.

So far Osram EBallast is the most common one use for the T5 HO tube.

You also need to get the T5 tube holders.And of course your T5 tubes.

I think that is all you need not forgetting to get the require wire.

can a normal electronic ballast be used with a t5 light tube?

The normal EBaallast can be use to run the T5 tube also.But then the life is very unpredictable.

Sometime the balllast just burnt off after a while.

If not, where can we buy the reflector for T5.
