Hi,

I have a few questions to ask:

Because of the size of the tanks that I want to use to set up fowlr,

-- I'll be depending on the dsb and lr only to do the filtration.

Is this sufficient, or do I need to add a protein skimmer?

-- Is there any powerhead for such a small tank. Anyone can give

me the exact brand and model?

-- Is lighting needed? If so, how many watts for how many hrs a day?

My tanks will have only lrs (might have shrooms growing on it) and 1 or 2 shrimps.

thanks.

i tink u need to specify all thw dimensions of the tanks b4 we can help u with ur questions... cos a DSB would take up 4 inches which might look wierd on a shallow tank

My tanks will have only lrs (might have shrooms growing on it) and 1 or 2 shrimps.

does this mean u will not hav any fish in ur setup?

Yes, i'm setting up 2 tanks, and small beause I'm interested in extra small nanos. I've seen people mainting 1 ft using nothing except hang on filters. That's good in my opinion as it serves 2 purposes - filtration and aertion, but they cause salt to spray out. dirties the surroundings and causes damage to nearby items.

Was wondering if there's another alternative, but in such a small tank, a powerhead might cause too much turbulence.

used to have a 1ft nano... what I can say is, get something bigger... you can't fit much into a 1ft or 1.5ft... but if you are still very interested, my filtration back then was at first a simple internal pump with DIY air driven skimmer, then moved on to a hang on back refugium with DIY air driven skimmer, then upgraded to a 1.5ft sump/refugium with Weipro skimmer... finally I then upgraded my tank coz couldn't take it anymore...
