Safe to have leather mushroom in skimless nano tank?

Should be ok as they are usually found in higher nutrients area. As you have read, leather will release "toxins" preventing the growth of hard corals. So I wouldn't recommend you adding hard corals if you are having leather corals in a tank without skimmer.

I wouldn't be having any SPS, just mainly softies.

The leather would be for my clowns to host. But am also worried the clowns too rough on it and kill it, haha. They already killed by Gonio :(
