Anyone got experience before tank explosion?

Anyone got experience tank explosion due to glass not able to withstand pressure? I am worried my juwel rekord will burst leh. the glass thickness is only abt 1mm.

yea... there are these kind of tanks around. But the sealing or the glass contacts are reenforced by plastic bordering. I have one like that for my FW too. it's a "fivePlan" tank.

Use the calculator there to help u determine the neccessary thickness.

actually dun think the powerhead alone will burst your tank..it's the long term structural stability of the tank...not to mention if any rockwork falls and hit the wall...the 2mm cannot tahan the impact probably...

so better be safe and protect your stuff and floor..hehe

Juwel tanks with 2mm glass? cannot be lah. Juwel tanks got standard and very good reputation you know? Impossible that the glass is only 2mm.. Which model are you having?

after reading this thread i'm begginning to worry about my 3ft tank...

it is 3ft X 2ft X 2ft...my tank is 6mm thick at the side and should be 10mm thick at the bottom.i have about 5inches of grade 0-2 sand,approximately 40kg of LR..anyone strongly feels that my tank cannot withstand marine?i'm very keen on upgrading to a 10mm all round tank but hai....$$$....pls tell me if my tank is too weak, i dun want to come home one fine day and see my living room flooded...my mum will probably disown me.....

If I am not mistaken Juwel tanks are made of tempered glass which should be considerably safer than normal glass...I have a Rio 125 which I keep as a planted tank and no complaints to date...
