Some doubts to clear !

1 Any of you guys are using Nutrafin Cycle ?

Is there any differences using the product during the cycling period and a mature tank ?

Lots of products claim that it helps to reduce ammonia, nitrites and nitrates..eg nutrafin cycle, ammonia lock, PSB......etc

But it seem that when you have an ammonia or nitrites spike, adding those chemical additives actually break down the organic waste and hence, both ammonia and nitrites shoot up further !

So if the above is true, does that means we can only dose for a mature tank ? Never dose the above products when there is ammonia and nitrites spike ?

2. A friend of mine has started a marine tank(2ft) in DEC 2003. After cycle the tank for around a month; NO2=0.2, added a damsel. He always has this NO2 problem, cannot reduce to 0. Even till now, NO2 never got 0 for reading.

Is it because he did not wait for the cycle to complete and introduce the fishes ? Will the tank ever get cycled eventually ?

1.IMO, if you did the cycling properly, there shouldn't be a need for such products. For me, the use of such products in both a cycling and matured tank isn't necessary.

2. Think you should provide somemore info like what's the filter system like. No2 at 0.2 is quite high. By right, eventually no2 should reach 0. Maybe the testkit is inaccurate.
