Sea Fan Skin stripping

Hi

Has anyone ever have ur sea fan skin stripping once in awhile? Is it normal? previously I had my yellow Tang to eat it up for me. But then my Tang suddenly disappear, not sure is it attack by my 3 stripe damsel. Till now I dare not buy another Yellow Tang. So, any other way to clear the skin? Hope some advise please. Thanks
