You may DIY this Thermoelectric Chiller.

It is basically a Thermoelectric Chip running on 12V-15V DC, high current needed 4 Amp.

Definitely use for Mini Tank.

You may buy those DC supply mini fridge which cost less than $100.

They use thermoelectric chip as well.

Cheers. :ooh:

wow.. ice probe... cool .. no need for fan liao.. :P ..

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

"Its easier to blame the 'mantis' or crabs in the tank for missing & dead livestocks.."

It may seem easy to DIY an IceProbe, but not many people have succeeded. Do a search at Nano Reef to see for yourself, particularly this thread. In the end, most nano reefers ended up buying the IceProbe because of the risk involved.

It is NOT easy to do a DIY iceprobe... for one reason you need to supply very high current to the peltier cooler and that alone is not an easy task, then there's the heat exchanger, the exhaust fan etc...

Also, not easy to get the parts required and if you don't know what you are doing, going to end up busting a hundred bucks or more...

BTW, those coolers are not cold enough... put a can of coke in and it'll only come out cool, not cold... thus don't expect to chill your tank by much...
