mh w/o chiller

2ft nano only. would a cooling fan be sufficient?

how many of u guys did this b4, running mh w/o a chiller?

i also going to run my 2 feet cube tank with a 250w soon

better to use chiller~~~ you can opt for resun or other cheaper brands to cool down your water~~~

well there r a few out there doing this method...

but bare in mind using fan will result alot of water loss.. so be prepare to get auto water top up device...

next why type of mh u getting 150w or 250w or 400w...

well for resun or atman chiller wont cost u more then 800...

but if i were u i rather go for atman.. as resun very noise..

there is a review for atman chiller u go search around and will be able to find it..

would my temp still rise considerably if the lights are 8inch abv the water? i noe th efficiency of the lights would lower but its still better than pl lights right?

Hi, I have use a 150w MH for my 3ft tank, temp. will raise but my 3 x 5 inch AC help to bring down the temp. by 4-5 degrees. (31--->26) Evaporation rate is rather high at 4L/day.

With MH for smaller tanks, better invest in chillers. Your tank life will luv you till the end

My 2.5ft tank using 250WMH with 1/4hp resun chiller. Electricity bills go up by $20 a month.

Ryz,can tell how deep is your tank, and what is the temp ?i intend to use 150 mh for my 2 and the half feet deep x 3 feet tank, but worry bout temp.pls advice

hmm maebe i shud try running halides w/o a chiller. save my money and save myself from being killed by my dad for da electricity bills

I find that if you do not have those submerge pumps and power heads for circulation/PS/return, the temp of the tank is lower.

I have a 1.5 nano with only a hanging filter and is blasted with 76W of PL and the temp is still 27.5. But my main FOWLR tank using an ehiem compact 1000 and eden rotating is already 30 without any lights! The best thing is that the 2 tanks are side by side.

So I guess you should be able to do with MH lighting if you do not have too many pumps in your tank.

i have 2 power heads in my tank for circulation. a hang on multi skimmer and 2 55 watt pl lights. surprised my water didnt boil.hahahahaha. my tank temp is abt 27 to 28C
